Africa faces significant climate risks, but also strong opportunities to advance resilient, low-emission development that supports economic growth and livelihoods. The Green Climate Fund works with countries across the continent to respond to climate challenges while unlocking sustainable development pathways tailored to diverse national contexts.
GCF supports this through a range of approaches—from readiness and capacity-building to project preparation, financing, and private sector engagement. Working with National Designated Authorities, Accredited Entities and in-country partners, GCF helps strengthen institutional capacity, improve access to climate finance, and investment aligned with national priorities.
GCF invests in projects, and partnerships that enhance resilience, expand access to sustainable technologies, and drive long-term climate action—from community-level initiatives to large-scale investments. Through this integrated approach, GCF helps countries translate climate ambition into high-impact projects that deliver lasting results.
