Latin America and the Caribbean

Latin America and the Caribbean span diverse ecosystems and development contexts—from tropical forests and high mountain systems to small island states in the Caribbean. Across this diversity, the Green Climate Fund supports country-driven climate action that advances climate-resilient and low-emission development, while helping countries harness opportunities for sustainable growth, protect natural capital, and strengthen resilience to climate impacts.

Latin America and the Caribbean region

GCF works with a range of governments, financial institutions, private-sector and civil society partners across the region to strengthen country ownership, expand access to climate finance, and support the development of investment pipelines aligned with national priorities. GCF also supports collaborative approaches, bringing countries and partners together to align priorities, coordinate investment, and scale climate solutions through investment platforms and dialogues, as demonstrated in the Caribbean.

Through readiness support, technical assistance, project preparation and financing, GCF helps countries address key priorities such as sustainable land use, energy transitions, climate-resilient infrastructure and inclusive economic development.
