GCF in Mexico: Supporting regenerative ranching practices to protect rivers and landscapes

Project video

12 May 2026

Cattle ranching is a family business and a major economic driver in Mexico. However, unsustainable livestock practices lead to extensive soil erosion and poor water quality. Without healthy landscapes, climate challenges such as floods and droughts have become more severe. This GCF project, in partnership with the Fondo Mexicano FMCN and the Government of Mexico, is working to shift traditional practices in cattle ranching. With support from the project, local partners and ranchers are restoring rivers and landscapes through climate-smart and sustainable practices. Watch the video to learn more.
