Calendar of events
GCF meets regularly with a wide variety of organisations to help guide its assistance to developing countries in meeting the climate challenge. These include national governments, international and regional bodies, business groups, Civil Sector Organisations and the Accredited Entities which carry out GCF-approved projects.
GCF's engagements through the events that it organises or participates in are rich venues for stakeholders to enhance understanding about GCF, as well as to stimulate thinking on how to drive national and regional momentum on climate change mitigation and adaptation.
In the context of COVID-19 recovery, Climate Week NYC 2020 will explore what lessons we can learn in the pursuit of a net-zero future through just transition. The Climate Group, in association with the UN and the City of New York, will host all of the week’s events on an online digital platform that will incorporate live broadcast, interactive sessions, networking areas and meeting spaces.
GCF executives will be engaging in many of the sessions at Climate Week NYC’s high-level segment “The Hub Live”, discussing climate-resilient recovery to the COVID-19 crisis, forestry and the greening of industries between the 22nd and 24th of September.
Our societies are intimately linked with biodiversity. Its loss threatens progress towards the SDGs and human wellbeing. Responses to the COVID-19 pandemic provide a unique opportunity for transformative change as a global community. The United Nations Summit on Biodiversity will be convened by the President of the General Assembly, at the level of Heads of State and Government under the theme of “Urgent action on biodiversity for sustainable development.” It will provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate ambition to accelerate action on biodiversity for sustainable development.
GCF Executive Director Yannick Glemarec will contribute to the Summit with a video statement.
