The Dominican Republic’s request for Readiness support is grounded in a clear set of country needs identified through assessments and stakeholder consultations. Persistent challenges in climate governance, finance mobilization, data systems, and private sector engagement constrain the country’s ability to deliver on its NDC and access climate finance at scale. Addressing these gaps requires stronger institutional frameworks, enhanced technical capacity, and equipping national actors with the tools to align investments with climate priorities.
GCF Readiness support is requested to strengthen institutional and policy frameworks and establish the Country Platform for Climate Finance as the core coordination mechanism to accelerate investments, align national priorities, and prepare concept notes and funding proposals for the GCF and other partners.
