This Readiness grant will strengthen Jamaica’s climate finance architecture by enhancing the NDA’s coordination capacity, establishing a Country Investment Platform and Secretariat, and improving project prioritization, endorsement, and climate finance matchmaking processes. It will also support the update and implementation of key climate strategies, including the NDC, NAP, and LTS, creating a stronger policy and institutional framework for integrated climate investments and more effective coordination among government, development partners, and the private sector.

The grant will further accelerate climate investment pipeline development through an updated Country Programme, strengthened stakeholder engagement, and the establishment of a Project Management Unit to support project preparation and implementation. It will improve oversight through a Portfolio Performance Management System and enhance knowledge-sharing among the NDA, direct access entities, and other stakeholders through dedicated platforms and knowledge products. Collectively, these actions will strengthen Jamaica’s ability to mobilize climate finance, develop high-quality GCF projects, oversee implementation, and promote learning and collaboration for long-term climate action.
