The Simplified Approval Process Pilot Scheme (SAP for short) is a new application process for smaller-scale projects or programmes.
- Do you have a project that is ready for scaling up, and has the potential for transformation to adapt and/or mitigate to climate change?
- Does it require a GCF contribution of up to USD 10 million?
- Are the environmental and social risks and impacts minimal?
If so, your proposal could benefit from the Simplified Approval Process.
Accredited Entities, National Designated Authorities (NDAs) or Focal Points and their partners are invited to bring us concept notes under the SAP. We are particularly encouraging Direct Access Entities and NDAs to take advantage of this opportunity. We also encourage partners to coordinate with NDAs and Accredited Entities in submitting concept notes, or to contact us for more information.

Simplified Templates for SAP
We have developed dedicated templates for SAP Concept Notes and SAP full Funding Proposals.
In addition, we are also providing example template annexes for full Funding Proposals. These examples provide guidelines and may be used as a reference for submitting complete Funding Proposals under the SAP.
Here is how the Funding Proposal template has been simplified:

Namibia's Experience with the SAP
The first funding proposal approved under the SAP was submitted by the Environment Investment Fund. The following video, produced by EIF, outlines their experience with this simplified process.
We will conduct regular webinars to help inform stakeholders on the SAP. Previous webinars are also available as recordings.
