Overview

The objective of this Readiness proposal is to generate a set of enabling conditions to catalyze national public policy efforts and investments to expand and integrate the green infrastructure network and Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in urban areas in Chile as a climate change mitigation and adaptation mechanism.

This includes: i) setting up and strengthening a governance structure at the national level for the decision-making process to foster the expansion and integration of green infrastructure and NbS in urban and peri-urban areas across the country; ii) conducting specific technical studies and normative analyses currently unavailable to effectively plan the expansion and integration of green infrastructure and NbS in urban and peri-urban areas; iii) strengthening the national institutional framework, trough the creation of an interinstitutional country-wide public policy to strategically plan the expansion and integration of green infrastructure and NbS in urban and peri-urban areas (National Green Infrastructure Strategy (ENIV)); and, iv) identifying national and international financial sources for the implementation of the ENIV and defining a set of priority projects at the profile level to trigger such implementation.
