Fundación Avina seeks to strengthen its institutional capacity as a Direct Access Entity to expand its support for climate action across Latin America. Building on over three decades of experience working with local communities and multi-stakeholder partnerships, the project will enhance Avina’s ability to access, manage, and deploy climate finance by strengthening institutional systems, staff expertise, and operational processes.
The Readiness support will improve capacities related to GCF policies and procedures, greenhouse gas accounting, financial and risk management, monitoring and evaluation systems, and the assessment of executing entities. It will also support the development of a pipeline of climate investments, including a full funding proposal and a concept note focused on locally led adaptation. In addition, the initiative will promote regional knowledge-sharing and South-South collaboration through engagement with institutions across Latin America and the Community of Practice for Direct Access Entities, contributing to more effective, equitable, and country-driven climate action in the region.
