Entity Support for Belize through CCCCC

One of the greatest challenges in delivering Belize’s climate change priorities is access to, and in some instances disbursement of climate finances. Nevertheless, the country has made significant efforts to respond to climate related challenges. In continuing this effort, Belize aims to implement its Climate Change Action Plan (approximately US$ 13 million) and the National Climate Resilience Investment Plan (approximately US$ 231.4 million). This request seeks to further aid the country in that endeavor by strengthening its capacities to effectively and efficiently access, manage, disburse and monitor climate financing. Activities implemented under previous Readiness support grant, have identified procedures, based on the results of scoping mission and GCF operational modalities, for nominating national entities seeking direct access accreditation of the GCF. In continuance of such efforts, this grant request aims to facilitate the preparation of nominated entities to meet GCF accreditation standards in areas such as environmental and social safeguards (ESS), the GCF gender policy, and project development, monitoring and evaluation.
