Enhancing the climate resilience of the Palestinian energy sector through enhanced capacity of the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority (PENRA)

Enhancing the climate resilience of the Palestinian energy sector through enhanced capacity of the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority (PENRA)
The intended goal of this proposed readiness support is for SoP to meet its NDC energy sector adaptation and mitigation targets, driving the energy sector transformation needed to support the adaptation of the agriculture, water, sanitation, health, and education sectors to climate change. This will ultimately instigate a paradigm shift towards climate-resilient and secure access to food, water, sanitation, health, and education services, especially for children, women, and other vulnerable groups. To achieve this, the readiness support will increase the capacities of PENRA and other key stakeholders in the energy sector and enable them to mobilize international climate finance to meet the SoP’s NDC mitigation and adaptation objectives concerning the energy and other key sectors. This will support the implementation of the National Energy Plan and enhance energy efficiency, aiming to achieve cumulative savings equal to 18% of the projected energy consumption by 2030.
