Advancing National Adaptation Planning in the Bahamas (NAP-Bahamas)
The objective of this proposal is ‘to position The Bahamas as a leader in climate-resilient development by bolstering adaptive capacities and catalysing action and finance to address high-priority climate impacts and vulnerabilities.’ This will be realised by engaging in adaptation planning processes through a country-driven, gender-sensitive, participatory and fully transparent approach. Anticipated outcomes of the NAP project are:
(i) Effective governance, coordination and institutional capacities strengthened to support adaptation planning processes in place;
(ii) Accurate baseline information on climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation investments is available to inform national adaptation planning;
(iii) Enabling policy framework for national adaptation planning and implementation developed;
(iv) Stakeholders engaged in adaptation planning processes at the national, sectoral and local levels; and
(v) Monitoring and evaluation systems for adaptation planning spur learning and promote accountability
