The Readiness support aims to strengthen ArmSwissBank’s institutional and operational capacity to effectively deliver Green Climate Fund–supported activities and to translate its recent accreditation into a sustainable pipeline of climate investments in Armenia. The proposal is grounded in Armenia’s national climate strategies and aligned with the GCF Updated Strategic Plan (USP-2), with a focus on reinforcing internal systems, tools, and skills required for compliant and efficient project implementation, while strengthening collaboration and learning within the global climate finance ecosystem.
The proposed support will enhance ArmSwissBank’s internal project management and oversight capacity by streamlining end-to-end project workflows and embedding GCF fiduciary, environmental, social, and gender requirements across the full project lifecycle. This will improve the Bank’s ability to originate, appraise, implement, and monitor GCF-funded projects in a structured, transparent, and accountable manner. In parallel, the proposal will strengthen ArmSwissBank’s institutional capacity to engage in structured knowledge exchange and peer learning with other accredited entities, particularly commercial banks, enabling the transfer of proven implementation models and best practices. The knowledge gained through these exchanges will be systematically integrated into ArmSwissBank’s internal policies, procedures, and staff training programmes to ensure sustained institutional learning.
Overall, the Readiness activities are expected to reduce operational and compliance risks, improve project quality and delivery efficiency, and position ArmSwissBank to effectively implement and scale high-impact mitigation and adaptation investments that support Armenia’s climate and development priorities in line with GCF standards.
