Overview

Vanuatu is a small island developing state comprising 83 islands in the Western Pacific and is extremely vulnerable to climate change and disaster risks such as air and sea temperature increases and extreme weather events including more frequent and intense tropical cyclones. These changes compound existing challenges related to water sanitation services and water resource management and increase the incidence of flooding which leads to significant damages to water infrastructure.

The objective of this project is to create safe, climate-resilient, and sustainable water utilisation and improve water security in local communities. This will be achieved by improving and scaling up the existing government-owned processes of water management as well as enhancing the capacity of relevant stakeholders in water resources management.
