World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations and the leading international authority on global health, comprising 194 member states and operating through headquarters, regional offices, and country offices across 142 countries. Headquartered in Switzerland, WHO provides leadership on global health policy, technical support, research, and standards-setting, with climate change and health integrated across its strategic programme of work.

WHO works closely with ministries of health and national authorities to integrate health considerations into national climate strategies, including national adaptation plans and nationally determined contributions, while strengthening climate-resilient and low-carbon health systems. The organization also collaborates with United Nations agencies, development banks, and global partners through initiatives such as the Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health.

By partnering with GCF, WHO aims to expand climate and health programming globally, leveraging its technical expertise and extensive country presence to support investments in climate-resilient health systems, climate-sensitive disease prevention, early warning systems, and integrated climate-health solutions aligned with national and global climate priorities.
