Strengthening the evidential basis for the adoption of adaptation technologies for small holder farmers
Strengthening the evidential basis for the adoption of adaptation technologies for small holder farmers
The lack of market and financial mechanisms and incentives, limited institutional arrangements and enabling environment for coordination and investments, limited technical knowledge and information in public and private sector on climate change adaptation solutions in the agriculture sector, and lack of proof of concepts and feasibility of climate change adaptation technologies impedes the uptake of adaptation technologies in the agriculture sector.
The goal of the proposal is to strengthen the adaptive capacity of small-holder farmers, agro-processors and other value chain actors to impacts of climate change. The objectives are:
- To improve the evidence basis for adaptation planning by piloting adaptation technologies, such as protective agriculture and efficient irrigation systems
- To develop strategies to foster private sector investment for adaptation and;
- To develop a Concept Note on Climate Resilient Agriculture for increasedfood security that will aid the country in increasing adaptation finance.
