Low-Carbon Transportation Development in the Sultanate of Oman

This readiness project will assist the Sultanate of Oman in resolving gaps and creating the basis for low-emission mobility. Also, the project is a critical component of the country's efforts to address energy efficiency and conservation as specified in Oman's country program with the GCF and Oman's efforts to implement their climate commitments under the Nationally Determined Contributions. Diverse public (Ministry of National Economy, Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Civil Aviation Authority, and Environmental Authority) and private sector (Investors, banks) stakeholders will benefit from the project's strategic activities and outcomes.

The project's outcomes include:

  • Develop and enhance strategic frameworks to address policy gaps, improve sectoral expertise, and enhance enabling environments for GCF programming in low emission investment.
  • Increase the number of project concept notes developed and submitted.
