Participation of the GCF Executive Director in the Climate Finance Ministerial meeting, Lima
The GCF Executive Director addressed the High-Level Climate Finance Ministerial meeting at the 2015 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund.
On 9 October 2015, the Green Climate Fund Executive Director addressed the High-Level Climate Finance Ministerial meeting at the 2015 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund in Lima.
On this occasion, Executive Director Héla Cheikhrouhou called for the Paris Agreement to ensure that the Financial Mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is scaled up substantially and on an ongoing basis.
GCF’s Executive Director underscored the need for funding through the Financial Mechanism of the Convention to be predictable and significant enough to contribute to the implementation of a Paris agreement and to the objective of keeping global warming to below two degrees Celsius.
Other engagements of Ms. Cheikhrouhou included a briefing about the mandate of the Green Climate Fund to 23 francophone African Ministers.
