GCF Technical Workshop on REDD+ Results-Based Payments

Following the GCF Board's request at its thirty-fifth meeting to prepare a proposal on REDD+ results-based payments (RBPs), the Secretariat has undertaken a series of consultations, both written and in-person. As part of this process, two technical workshops were held on the draft proposal with nominated representatives of Board members, alternate Board members, active observes and accredited entities on 14-17 July 2023 and 28-30 August 2023 in Songdo, Republic of Korea. Prior to both workshops, written consultations were conducted through the circulation of a proposal to GCF's Board representatives, national designated authorities and the public.
Participants at the workshop represented the developing constituencies of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific, LDCs and SIDS, as well as developed country constituencies. Observers were also in attendance from GCF's Accredited Entities, Civil Society Observers Network, Private Sector Observer Network, and the Indigenous Peoples Advisory Group.
Both workshops discussed a draft proposal developed by the Secretariat, which integrated lessons learnt from the pilot programme and a compilation of views obtained from written consultations. The workshops resulted in a draft proposal on GCF REDD+ Results-based payments to be presented to the Board for its consideration and approval at its thirty-seventh meeting, consistent with its request.
