The Readiness grant aims to strengthen the Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature (FMCN) as a direct access entity by enhancing its institutional capacities, digital systems, policies, and compliance processes to maintain GCF accreditation standards. The support will help FMCN strengthen its programming capabilities, improve governance and accountability systems, and ensure continued alignment with evolving GCF requirements.
The grant will also support the development of a high-quality, paradigm-shifting climate project pipeline aligned with Mexico’s national priorities, while strengthening project oversight, financial management, monitoring, and reporting systems. Capacity-building activities for executing and implementing entities will address environmental, social, and governance gaps and improve project delivery. In addition, the initiative will promote knowledge-sharing and South-South cooperation through regional partnerships and national exchange platforms, helping to strengthen Mexico’s climate finance ecosystem and reinforce FMCN’s role as a capable and effective direct access entity.
