This proposal seeks GCF Readiness funding to support the Government of Vanuatu (GoV) in establishing the National Green Energy Fund (NGEF) as approved by Vanuatu’s Council of Ministers in April 2016. The readiness funding will be used to complete the first stage of development of NGEF – completing the feasibility studies with an aim to enable an informed decision by GoV regarding the NGEF strategy and implementation priorities. A representative set of islands will be selected, based on the preliminary scoping for islands carried out by Vanuatu Department of Energy (DoE), to proceed with feasibility studies.
