Mainstreaming the impacts of COVID-19 and health co-benefits in climate change mitigation and adaptation actions in the State of Palestine to accelerate access to climate finance

The pandemic led to disruptions in the SoP’s efforts to combat climate change and implement the country’s NDC. For SoP to resume its efforts, it is essential that the country increases its ability to leverage climate finance and that Environment Quality Authority (EQA) in its capacity as Chair of National Climate Change Committee and as NDA to GCF is fully capable of fulfilling its commitments and delivering its mandate efficiently. The ultimate objective of the proposed readiness support project is to address the needs of SoP in having:

  • An operational National Digital Climate Change Platform and related manual, improving on the existing operational framework for Climate Action, which would enable SoP to achieve more efficient communication with the international community and donors in terms of digital infrastructure (equipment and services) and capacity;
  • A climate change portfolio of existing and new projects taking into account the impacts of COVID-19, including highlighting the changes in priorities and new challenges to better cope with the situation with enhanced resilience and inclusiveness.
