Enhancing the resilience of vulnerable families in Mexico City to the impacts of climate change on water
The Project proposal entitled “Enhancing the resilience of vulnerable families in Mexico City to the impacts of climate change on water” seeks to enhance resilience of the most vulnerable population in Mexico City to climate change impacts on water through enhancing knowledge and communication to manage future climate risks; scaling up access to domestic Rainwater Harvesting Systems (RWHS), through financial products and services dedicated to promoting adoption of technology and creating public policy instruments to support the sustainable deployment of the adaptation solution proposed.
The area of focus for this PPF is Mexico City, especially the municipalities dependent on the Cutzamala-Lerma system supply.
The proposed project is fully aligned with climate change needs and priorities of Mexican policies and programmes at the national and city level, contributing to the effective implementation of targets and measures stated in national and local policy instruments, fostering adaptive capacity and climate resilience among beneficiaries. These policy instruments include Mexico’s General Law on Climate Change, the Strategy on Climate Change, the Mexican NDC, the Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change Law and Sustainable Development for Mexico City and Mexico City’s Vision for Climate Change for 2025.
Hence, PPF support from GCF is needed to conduct studies to demonstrate the sustainability and effectiveness of measures under the proposal. The proposed studies will help fill information gaps needed to develop a full funding proposal. Each activity developed should be coordinated and articulated to ensure they complement. The results will be included in the final proposal, and later submitted to the GCF for funding consideration.
