Enhancing Paraguay’s capacity to promote the provision of ecosystem services and conservation of biodiversity in protected areas to improve climate change mitigation and adaptation interventions
This readiness grant will strengthen the national authorities’ technical knowledge and disseminate knowledge to promote climate change mitigation and adaptation interventions in Paraguay’s protected areas (PA) and their buffer zones.
This proposal will contribute to the following needs listed in the updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) of Paraguay: a) to promote the conservation of PAs; b) to conduct research on the vulnerability to climate change of (native) species; c) to promote the sustainable management of native species; d) to raise awareness about the importance of PAs in the fight against climate change; e) to coordinate with local communities activities for the sustainable management of PAs; and, f) make information on climate change and PAs available on Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development’s website.
