The Readiness support aims to strengthen Eldik Bank’s capacity to access, manage, and scale international climate finance, particularly from the GCF, in support of the Kyrgyz Republic’s climate priorities and commitments under the Paris Agreement. Through targeted capacity building, technical assistance, and knowledge transfer, the project will help the Bank integrate climate considerations into its governance, strategies, and operations; enhance its ability to develop a pipeline of bankable climate projects and prepare high-quality funding proposals; and strengthen its systems for implementing, monitoring, and reporting climate finance investments.
The project will also support the establishment of dedicated institutional and technical functions to manage climate-related projects and partnerships in line with the standards of the GCF and other international financial institutions. Ultimately, the initiative seeks to position Eldik Bank as a key national institution for mobilizing and channeling climate finance to advance low-emission and climate-resilient development in the Kyrgyz Republic.
