The Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional (FDN) intends to develop a Green Climate Fund Funding Proposal (FP) based on the Concept Note “Catalyzing Colombia’s Just Energy Transition in Vulnerable Territories through Decentralized Solar Solutions” The proposed FP targets Colombia’s Non-Interconnected Zones (ZNI) as priority areas to drive a transformational shift in energy access by replacing diesel-based generation in Mitú and Puerto Leguizamo municipalities; and with decentralized solar PV systems in Uribia municipality, complemented by individual household solutions and battery storage. This intervention will directly contribute to Colombia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) of reducing emissions by 51% by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, while addressing persistent energy poverty, advancing climate justice, and supporting the GCF’s paradigm-shift mandate and relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including SDG-7 (access to affordable and clean energy).
