Building Capacity for the National Adaptation Planning Process in Yemen

Building Capacity for the National Adaptation Planning Process in Yemen
The project goal is to make Yemen more resilient to the impacts of climate change through robust national and sub-national adaptation planning, improved institutional capacity, and the implementation of gender- responsive, inclusive, and climate-resilient development policies, while fostering synergies with peacebuilding efforts by promoting social cohesion, engaging conflict-affected communities, and ensuring local ownership in adaptation measures.
The objective of this GCF readiness grant is to establish the NAP process in Yemen and strengthen the institutional coordination, policy, technical and financial framework capacities in key sectors with conflict sensitive approaches for adaptation planning. The project will build technical capacity through access to climate risk and vulnerability information which includes conflict analysis, establish the NAP platform for information sharing, awareness raising and knowledge management, establish systems and capacity for effective adaptation monitoring and evaluation, develop a cross-sectoral climate finance strategy, and clearly articulate adaptation priorities by developing a set of concept notes to mobilize climate finance. The implementation of the NAP process in Yemen will ensure that vulnerable communities, including women, children, and marginalized groups, are empowered to build resilience to climate change impacts.
