The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) is a national semi-autonomous entity headquartered in Nepal whose objective is to develop and promote renewable energy with the potential to develop low-emission pathways and climate-resilient energy sources across the country. AEPC interventions are closely tied to communities and involve extensive commitment to community engagement and community development. AEPC works to provide a reliable supply of energy as an essential service to help to build individuals’ adaptive capacity through income diversification. By empowering local communities and institutions to implement decentralized renewable energy systems, including solar, small and medium-sized hydroelectric, wind and biogas systems, AEPC aims at the widespread burning of biomass and fostering the creation of green jobs.

Mitigating GHG emission through modern, efficient and climate friendly clean cooking solutions (CCS)
09 Jan 2020 / GCF has signed an agreement with Nepal’s Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) to help boost this mountainous country’s ability to expand its renewable power and improve energy efficiency. The signing of the Accreditation Master Agreement (AMA) allows GCF to begin providing funds to address mitigation and adaptation needs in Nepal, focusing on vulnerable communities. AEPC was accredited as a GCF climate action partner in February last year.
