Overview

The International Land and Forest Tenure Facility (Tenure Facility) is a Stockholm-based non-profit organization with a mission to provide support for securing the rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLCs) to their land and forests, thereby strengthening these communities and helping to fight climate change and poverty in the world's forest regions.

Tenure Facility is operating in over 20 countries through partnerships with IPLCs, national government institutions to align its projects with national climate strategies, including nationally determined contributions and national adaptation plans. Through grant-making and capacity-building, Tenure Facility supports IPLCs in accessing climate finance and implementing community-led mitigation and adaptation solutions, directly contributing to GCF's mandates.

Tenure Facility, in partnership with GCF, aims to scale up and expand programming while strengthening collaboration with IPLCs and NDAs. Tenure Facility's priority project countries are located in the three largest tropical rainforest regions of the world: Amazonia, the Congo Basin, and tropical Asia, Central America, East Africa, and South Asia.
