Overview
The Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) of Uganda is a national entity responsible for promoting and ensuring rational and sustainable utilisation, development and effective management of water and environmental resources for the socioeconomic development of Uganda. MWE has implemented policies and programmes in line with Uganda’s nationally determined contributions and the objectives of the National Development Plan (2015–2020), which include: increasing access to quality safe water and sanitation facilities for rural and urban areas; improving the assessment, monitoring, planning regulation and quality management of water resources; and improving weather and climate change management.
