Overview

The Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) is a public sector sovereign wealth and serving as the country's national infrastructure investment vehicle. GIIF’s mandate is to identify, develop, invest in, mobilize and manage a diversified portfolio of infrastructure assets that support national development in a profitable and sustainable manner. GIIF works with public and private partners and deploys loans, equity, guarantees and blended finance across infrastructure sectors.

GIIF's climate strategy prioritizes renewable energy, sustainable transport, nature-based solutions, energy efficiency, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, resilient health infrastructure and social infrastructure. GIIF’s portfolio aligns with Ghana's nationally determined contribution, national adaptation plan and long-term low-emission development strategy. GIIF also integrates climate screening and risk considerations throughout the investment lifecycle and has experience financing renewable energy and other infrastructure projects.

GIIF combines infrastructure investment expertise with the capacity to deploy loans and equity for low-emission and climate-resilient projects in Ghana. By partnering with GCF, GIIF’s financing approach will help de-risk climate investments, mobilize private capital and expand the range of financial instruments available for climate action.
