Equity Group Holdings PLC (EGH) is a financial services holding company headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, with banking and non-banking subsidiaries operating across the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania. As a non-operating holding company, EGH sets group strategy, capital mobilization and deployment, risk management and oversight, while its regulated subsidiaries deliver integrated financial services to consumers, businesses and communities. With GCF resources, EGH would seek to scale climate finance across its operating countries by improving access to affordable funding for mitigation and adaptation investments. EGH’s planned programming includes a Green Bond Programme to increase participation by smaller private sector finance actors, as well as the Scaling-up MSMEs adoption of climate technologies in East Africa initiative, which would combine credit lines, senior loans, guarantees and grants for technical assistance. These initiatives are designed to reduce financial and technical barriers for MSMEs and support a broader shift towards climate-resilient and low-emission growth in the region.
