Overview
The Environment Protection Fund (EPF) is based in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic. As a government-established fund, EPF mobilizes domestic and international resources to support sustainable natural resource management and environmental protection, aligned with the country’s socio-economic development goals.
EPF collaborates with a wide range of partners, including international organizations, academia, government ministries, local authorities, businesses, and civil society groups. In line with national priorities, EPF manages six priority funding windows focused on policy, biodiversity, pollution control, water and land management, and climate change. Climate change is both a dedicated financing window and a cross-cutting priority across all areas.
Through collaboration with GCF, EPF aims to strengthen its impact in addressing climate change by leveraging its experience in agricultural development, forest and biodiversity conservation, and REDD+ initiatives, while scaling up both adaptation and mitigation efforts.
