Overview
DFCC Bank PLC (DFCC Bank) is a national direct access, private sector entity based in Sri Lanka. Established in 1955, DFCC Bank is a commercial bank with primary lines of business in consumer, corporate and SME banking, treasury, investment and international banking, card operations and bancassurance (i.e. selling insurance products). With its focus on agriculture, fishing, manufacturing, transport, construction, tourism, financial and business services, infrastructure, and training sectors, DFCC Bank has developed a sustainability strategy to minimize adverse environmental and social impacts. DFCC Bank has played a pioneering role in leveraging private and public sector resources for projects in non-conventional renewable energy - particularly by financing the first ever private sector owned grid connected small hydro, wind, and ground mounted solar projects in Sri Lanka.
Together with GCF, DFCC Bank intends to finance large-scale green projects that may otherwise not be entirely commercially feasible under the existing business and market conditions. As Sri Lanka’s first national direct access entity, DFCC Bank strengthens the Country Programme, especially for energy sector financing.
