Banque Centrale Populaire

Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) is a Moroccan commercial bank and, together with the regional Banques Populaires, serves as the central institution of Crédit Populaire du Maroc. BCP forms part of Groupe BCP, a pan-African mutual and universal banking group operating across 32 countries, including 18 in Africa, and serves retail clients, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and corporate clients. Through an extensive regional network and partnerships with international financial institutions, BCP provides loans, guarantees, leasing, equity and other financial services.

BCP supports sustainable finance in renewable energy, industrial energy efficiency, water security, sustainable infrastructure, agriculture and green investment facilities. Partnerships with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank and African Development Bank have supported green credit lines and large-scale climate-related investments. These activities seek alignment with Morocco’s nationally determined contribution and the climate priorities of other African countries where Groupe BCP operates.

BCP’s banking network, financial structuring expertise and experience in project finance and green on-lending are expected to strengthen GCF’s capacity to mobilize private capital at scale. Through the deployment of loans, equity and guarantees, BCP continues to support priorities related to energy generation and access, transport, climate-resilient infrastructure, water security, mitigation and adaptation. The group’s regional presence could further broaden access to climate finance for enterprises and infrastructure projects across Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa.
