Overview

The Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) is a treaty-based intergovernmental organization headquartered in Seoul that promotes regional cooperation on forest conservation and climate action across its member countries in Asia. AFoCO supports forest landscape restoration, sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and capacity development, contributing directly to national climate adaptation and mitigation priorities. The organization has established partnerships with numerous international organizations and holds observer or accredited status under several multilateral environmental conventions and frameworks.

AFoCO aligns its work with regional climate and forestry strategies and has mobilized funding through regional cooperation mechanisms and private sector engagement platforms. Guided by its Strategic Plan, the organization focuses on forest restoration, community-based bioeconomy development, and climate-related forest disaster risk management.

By partnering with GCF, AFoCO aims to support member countries in advancing low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways through landscape restoration and sustainable forest management, building on its experience implementing climate-related projects and programmes across Asia.
