The Oriental Region and Khénifra Province of Morocco are experiencing acute vulnerability to climate change, characterized by intensified drought, erratic rainfall patterns, higher temperatures, recurrent flooding, and severe soil erosion. Agro-pastoral livelihoods, critical to local economies, are heavily affected by reduced water availability, degradation of rangelands and agricultural lands, and declining productivity in both crop and livestock sectors. This climatic stress exacerbates poverty, food insecurity, rural exodus, and ecosystem degradation, disproportionately impacting women, youth, and smallholder communities dependent on fragile natural resources.
