The GCF workshop on REDD+ Results-based Payments (RBPs) will take place in Seoul, South Korea on 4 May 2022.  

Through decision B.18/07 in 2017, the Green Climate Fund Board allocated US$500 million for a pilot programme for REDD-plus results-based payments (RBPs). Launched in October 2017 for a period of five years, the funds were exhausted in 2020, two years ahead of schedule. 

Based on recommendations by GCF Board members, consultations took place throughout 2021 on the continuation of the RFP into a second phase. The GCF Secretariat compiled a range of inputs, resulting in a zero-draft set of terms of reference encompassing views from developed and developing countries.  

The objective of this workshop is to facilitate informal discussions on the second phase of the GCF REDD+ RBP programme with a view to finalizing the terms of reference for a submission to the GCF Board this year.  

The workshop will be facilitated by the Green Climate Fund and the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3). 

The workshop will include a summary overview of the terms of reference followed by section-by-section discussions of the terms of reference, including the scorecard, and will close with a summary of progress by the GCF Secretariat.
