The 15th meeting of the Green Climate Fund Board was held in Apia, Independent State of Samoa, and marked the first time the Board convened in a Pacific island country. The gathering was opened under the auspices of Samoan Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi who hailed the Fund’s crucial role in empowering Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to deal with climate change. Close to 200 participants attended the meeting, including representatives from 50 observer organizations.
