Increased resilience of urban development and infrastructure in Costa Rica through the development of an adaptation construction code

The overarching goal of the present proposal is to improve the climate resilience of critical infrastructure in Costa Rica, specifically focusing on housing, water and sanitation, and road transport infrastructure. This will be achieved through several specific objectives, aligned with the GCF’s Readiness programme:

  • Objective 2. Strategic Frameworks: Development of a comprehensive assessment of the current vulnerability of critical infrastructure, the analysis of the current policy and legal framework to identify gaps and barriers that hinder the development of climate resilient infrastructure, the identification of appropriate technologies for climate adaptation of critical infrastructure in Costa Rica, the development of a national adaptation construction code for critical housing, water and sanitation, and road transport infrastructure.
  • Objective 5. Knowledge sharing and learning: Dissemination of the adaptation construction code, technical guidelines and online training modules through an online platform
