The 36th meeting of the GCF Board will kick off in Incheon, Republic of Korea from July 10 to 13. On the agenda will be the consideration of 12 funding proposals, as well as the strategic plan for GCF’s 2024-2027 period.

The Board will consider for approval 12 new funding proposals spanning 30 countries across five continents. If all approved, USD 755,8 million in GCF resources would be committed, unlocking a total of USD 3,185 billion of climate finance when including co-financing.

During the three-day meeting, the Board will consider the future strategy for the Fund’s third programming period (GCF-2) running from 2024 to 2027, and the revised strategy for the Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme 2024-2027.  Among the agenda items, there will be a review of the Project Preparation Facility (PPF), and consideration of eight proposals for accreditation and reaccreditation.  In addition, reports on the activities of the Secretariat and independent units will be presented, as well as updates on the replenishment for GCF-2, the Independent Evaluation Unit’s evaluation on GCF’s investments in Africa and GCF’s 12th report to the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

This will be the last Board meeting before Mafalda Duarte starts her tenure as the new Executive Director of GCF on August 1. Until then, Henry Gonzalez, Deputy Executive Director, is Executive Director ad interim.
