Civil Society Organisations meet Exec Director ahead of B.20
29 Jun 2018 / Around 50 CSO observers met with Executive Director Howard Bamsey and members of the GCF Secretariat ahead of Sunday’s B.20 Board meeting. The meeting gave a chance for CSOs to exchange views with GCF staff on B.20 agenda items. Issues covered included project proposals, replenishment, the integrated approach to policy and GCF’s safeguards policies.
Spanish and French SAP webinars held
26 Jun 2018 / A back-to-back series of webinars for GCF's Simplified Approval Process (SAP) was recently held in cooperation with UNITAR. The webinars, which were attended by National Designated Authorities and Accredited Entities, are designed to help guide potential project proponents in submitting concept notes and funding proposals under the pilot programme. The recently-concluded webinars were held in Spanish and French, and follows an initial session held earlier this year.
GCF at Adaptation Futures
21 Jun 2018 / GCF took part in the "Resourcing Adaptation" plenary in Adaptation Futures 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa from 18-21 June. Jerry Velasquez, director of mitigation and adaptation at GCF, said that there is a need to leverage knowledge and learning, build the business case for projects and transfer these cases to the private sector. The plenary closed with the announcement of the Burtoni Award, recognising a lifetime contribution to adaptation research, policy and practice.
Readiness Grant Approvals cross USD100 million milestone
11 Jun 2018 / Grant approvals under GCF's Readiness programme has exceeded USD 100 million. With 196 readiness requests approved, the programme now covers 112 countries. The Readiness Programme is designed to enhance country ownership and access to GCF Funding, and provides resources for strengthening institutional capacities of National Designated Authorities (NDA) or Focal Points and direct access entities to efficiently engage with the Fund.
