Gender assessment for FP034: Building Resilient Communities, Wetland Ecosystems and Associated Catchments in Uganda

This gender assessment provides an overview of the situation in Uganda, identifying gender issues that are relevant to the project, and examining gender‐mainstreaming opportunities. The resulting gender assessment is based on:

  • Undertaking a desktop review, and aligning approaches in this proposal with the national priorities of Uganda;
  • Incorporating information and lessons learnt from past studies and assessments on gender in Uganda by the Government of Uganda, the United Nations, Development Partners, civil society organizations, and multilateral development banks;
  • Conducting stakeholder consultations and engaging women affected by the project and incorporating all points raised; and
  • Integrating gender considerationsin the project indicators, targets and activities, identifying women as leaders and decision‐makers.
