GCF joins European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to bolster Moroccan adaptation

Bonn,
QUICK TAKE - The Green Climate Fund and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have deepened their cooperation on climate change by making Moroccan agriculture more resilient.

The two organisations have signed a Funded Activity Agreement to free USD 37.6 million of GCF grant financing in the USD 243.1 million Saïss Water Conservation Project.

This joint investment, which includes financing from the Kingdom of Morocco, will support a water transfer scheme of more than 100 million cubic metres of irrigation, moving away from the unsustainable use of groundwater.

Ayaan Adam, GCF Private Sector Facility’s Director, and Lin O’Grady, EBRD’s Deputy Head of Municipal and Environmental Infrastructure, (pictured) met at the international climate change conference in Bonn to discuss how to progress cooperation on this project.
